Childrens Programs
New Horizon Center was started in 1967 by a group of pioneer parents
of severely retarded children. For over 30 years New Horizon Center has
been a leader in development of innovative and challenging programs for
special needs children. We strive to provide a continuum of services
that will enhance and enrich the quality of life of our children and the
families we serve.
Individualized programs are developed to include the student's
strengths and abilities. Goals are formulated at an IEP meeting with
parents/guardians and professionals. Goals and objectives are
implemented at school and in the home environment. The main objective of
the meeting is to design a program that is functional and meaningful for
the student. The student's program is continually evaluated and revised
when necessary. It is adapted for each student's needs, and is subject
to continuing evaluation.
New Horizon Center is approved by the Illinois State Board of
Education in the areas of Mental Impairment and Autism. All teachers are
certified. Teachers are well-trained professionals.
